Transport

The Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is located about 26 kilometers northwest of downtown Jakarta. It is served by many of the recognized international airlines as well as almost all national and regional carriers, with many airlines offering non-stop flights to and from Jakarta.
Public transportation, although mostly geared towards servicing the locals, is slowly but surely getting more convenience to come by. Metered taxis are reliable and cheap. TransJakarta buses (locally known as the “busway”) offer many routes to get around the city.
For all activities outside Jakarta, a personal or rental car is recommended to get around. There are even companies that provide limousine service and luxury buses if you need one. Of course, trains are the safest and most reliable option if you would like to visit the nearby cities of Bandung, Bogor or Cirebon. They are cheap, too.
