Taman Safari Indonesia

Taman Safari Indonesia was officially opened in 1990 to be the first drive-through zoo in Indonesia. The park is situated in Cisarua, Puncak, some 70 km to the south of downtown Jakarta. Here you can drive-through to see more than 2500 animals of about 200 species, including rare and endangered species like anoas, mousedeers, hippos, javanese rhinos, giraffes, sumatran tigers, chinese bears and african lions roaming around freely against the background of the picturesque tropical mountains. You can also trek the jungle to directly interact with elephants, camels, birds, butterflies, storks and see many kinds of beautiful flora.
Compared to African safaris, Taman Safari is much more timid and entertaining in nature. There is more to Taman Safari than just wild animals, it’s actually a complete amusement park. You can shack at the beautiful Caravan Park camping ground, visit the African-style village or observe the Bird Park, go carting, swimming, canoing, enjoy circus attractions or let the kids ride any of the child-specific rides at the Children Playground. With tons of avenues for fun and learning, its no wonder that Taman Safari has been a wildly popular tourist destination. The more than one million people who visit it annually must have come for a reason.
For lodging, there are plenty of villas and hotels in and around Puncak. Besides the rooms and bungalows in the park, there are a few quality hotels in Bogor and Puncak that you can choose from for your stay. For budget accommodation, just look around and take your pick from a large range of lodges in the area.
